About Harmony
Founded in 2011, Harmony Music Academy has helped hundreds of students in Atlanta and surrounding areas discover and develop a lifelong love of music.
Harmony Music Academy was founded in 2011 by Sarah Kim with a simple premise: music education should feel less like a chore and more like a discovery. Too many students quit lessons as children because they were pushed through scales and method books without anyone helping them connect to the music they actually loved. Sarah built Harmony as the antidote to that experience.
Today we teach over 50 students monthly across five instruments: piano, guitar, violin, voice, and drums. Our instructors are working musicians — not just music educators — which means every lesson is grounded in how music actually functions outside of the practice room, not just how it appears on a page.
We believe music is a language, and like any language, it’s best learned through immersion and context — not just grammar rules. We teach theory because it’s useful, but we anchor it to the music students want to make. A 10-year-old learning to play a Taylor Swift song on guitar is simultaneously learning chord structure, rhythm, and hand position. The song is the entry point; the technique follows naturally.
We also believe in honest assessment. If a student is ready to advance, we tell them. If a student is struggling with a concept, we don’t paper over it — we slow down and work through it. Progress in music is non-linear and highly individual, and we’d rather a student genuinely master 12 songs than superficially skim 40.
We’re located at 999 Peachtree St NE, Suite 201, Atlanta, GA 30309 — in Midtown Atlanta, with easy access from Buckhead, Virginia-Highland, and Downtown. Ample parking in the building lot. We also offer fully online lessons via Zoom for students who can’t make it in person, with the same instructor and same curriculum.
