Every instructor at Harmony is a working or professionally trained musician — not just someone who played in high school. You get real musicianship, not just sheet music follow-along.

Sarah Kim, piano and music theory instructor

Piano & Music Theory

Sarah Kim

Sarah trained at Berklee College of Music and has been teaching private piano and music theory lessons for 12 years. She works with students from age 5 through adult, and adapts fluidly between classical foundations and contemporary styles.

Marcus Webb, guitar instructor

Guitar (Classical & Electric)

Marcus Webb

Marcus is a working guitarist who performs locally with two bands while maintaining an active teaching studio. He's been teaching for 8 years and is comfortable with students learning acoustic, classical, and electric guitar across any genre.

Priya Patel, violin and voice instructor

Violin & Voice

Priya Patel

Priya is Suzuki method certified for violin and brings 10 years of teaching experience across both violin and voice. Her approach emphasizes ear training alongside technique, helping students internalize music rather than just replicate it.

What Students Say

Real results from real students.

From 7-year-old beginners to adult learners returning to music after decades away. Here’s what they say.

★★★★★

My daughter started piano with Sarah at age 7 and is now 12, performing in recitals and writing her own songs. The patience and structure Sarah brings to lessons is something we never found at other studios. Harmony is worth the drive from Cary.

★★★★★

Marcus taught me to play guitar as an adult beginner at 38. He never made me feel self-conscious about starting late. Within six months I was playing songs I actually wanted to play. Now I practice every morning before work.

★★★★★

Priya has been teaching my son violin for two years using the Suzuki method. His ear is remarkable now — he can pick out chord progressions by ear that I can't hear. The method is patient but the results are genuinely impressive.

FAQ

Common questions, honest answers.

What does the first free lesson include?

The first lesson is a full 30-minute private session with your matched instructor — not a sales pitch. You'll play, we'll assess your current level and goals, and you'll get a genuine feel for the instructor's teaching style. At the end, you decide if you want to continue. No pressure either way.

How often should my child (or I) take lessons?

Once per week is the standard cadence for steady progress. Twice per week can accelerate development significantly, especially for students preparing for auditions or exams. Less than once a week makes it harder to build the muscle memory and habits that carry over between sessions.

Do I need an instrument at home before starting?

For the first lesson, no — we have instruments at the studio. For ongoing lessons, yes: daily practice between sessions is where most of the real progress happens, and you need an instrument to do that. We can advise on what to buy or rent for your specific situation during the first lesson.

What does pricing look like?

We offer 30-, 45-, and 60-minute lesson formats. Pricing is available when you schedule your free first lesson. We don't publish rates online because they vary by lesson length, instructor, and whether you enroll in a monthly package or pay per session. Packages offer a meaningful discount over pay-as-you-go.
